Dryer lint is flammable. It accumulates inside the vent ductwork and builds up over months and years. When it gets hot enough — from normal dryer operation — it can ignite.
According to the US Fire Administration, 34% of dryer fires are caused by failure to clean the vent. The fix is simple: clean the full vent run annually, or every 6 months for high-usage households.
Signs your vent needs cleaning
- Clothes taking 2+ cycles to dry
- Dryer feels very hot to the touch
- Burning smell during drying
- "Check vent" light or error code
- Lint visible at the exterior vent hood
- Clothes come out damp or overheated
- Energy bills up for no obvious reason
What we clean
- Full duct run (up to 40 feet standard, longer runs priced accordingly)
- Interior dryer lint trap housing (often missed)
- Exterior vent hood and flap
- Elbows, bends, and transitions (lint traps here)
- Booster fan (if installed) — cleaned and tested
Our process
- Inspect and measure. We check your duct run, material (metal vs foil vs vinyl), and exterior termination.
- Disconnect dryer. Safely pull the unit forward, disconnect duct.
- Rotary brush the duct. From both ends. Our tool captures lint rather than pushing it through.
- Vacuum duct run. HEPA-filtered vacuum pulls lint out, not into the attic or walls.
- Clean interior lint housing. Behind the dryer lint screen — where most lint actually collects.
- Reconnect and test. Dryer reconnected, full cycle test to verify airflow.
When to call us
- Annually for most households
- Every 6 months for families of 4+ or daily drying
- Immediately if any warning signs above
- Before selling a home
- After a rodent issue in the vent run
- Vinyl accordion duct. Illegal in most states for a reason — catches lint and is flammable.
- Improper termination. Venting into the attic, soffit, or crawl space instead of outside. Major code violation.
- Missing or broken vent flap. Lets birds and rodents nest inside.
- Crushed duct. Dryer pushed against wall, duct pinched, no airflow.
- Booster fan failure. Long runs (30+ feet) need boosters; dead ones cause lint buildup fast.
